The Jokes:
A McDonald’s in China served a customer detergent in a Coke cup. Could of been worse, it could of actually been Coke.
Disney World:
On Monday, the day after the Superbowl, I happen to see one those “I’m going to Disneyland” commercials featuring MVP Joe Flacco. It’s amazing how fast the turn around these things are.
It’s hard to know exactly how Disney gets the NFL players to agree to make these commercials so fast. These guys are named MVP and then are declaring their love for Disney World minutes later it seems. We do know that, according to Wikipedia, that NFL players are usually paid somewhere between $30,000 to $70,000 to appear in these ads. They are also given an MVP trip to Disney World, I assume so their declaration isn’t a lie.
The first ad came about after Dick Rutan and Jeana Yeager, the first people to fly around the world with refueling, told Disney Big Shot Mike Eisner’s wife that they were “going to Disneyland” after she asked them what they were doing next. She later remarked to Mr. Eisner that it would be a good advertising slogan.
Shortly after, in 1987, Disney aired their first “i’m going to Disney World” commercial with New York Giants quarterback Phil Simms.
Although the ad campaign usually features NFL players, other people have been featured including steroid users Mark McGuire and Barry Bonds, American Idol winners David Cook, Kris Allen, Lee DeWyze and Scotty McCreery, and Nancy Kerrigan (who remarked later how much she hated doing it). I’m sure Disney is proud of all these choices (this is sarcasm).
Now, here’s a nice song called I’m going to Dizz Knee Land (spelled that way to avoid being sued I guess). Worth a listen if for no other reason for the line, “I just flipped off President Georgem I’m going to Disneyland”.
